THE BIG PICTURE

LinkedIn allegedly working on AI ‘coach’ for professionals

Source: Nima Owji

LinkedIn is working on an AI assistant, according to app researcher Nima Owji. The app will reportedly help users:

  • Apply for jobs

  • Learn new skills

  • Connect with their network

While not much else is known about the feature at this point, the screenshot from Owji shows that users will be able to ask the AI coach things like:

  • What a company does

  • What the company’s culture is

  • How the AI coach works

Microsoft, which owns LinkedIn, has been testing AI features across several products like Bing and Office, and it won’t come as a huge surprise if LinkedIn is leveraging some of that knowhow to build its own AI features.

INSIGHT

Women most at risk of AI job replacement

A recent report from Bloomberg and Revelio Labs claims that women are most at risk from AI job replacement, mainly because they hold most of the jobs that are threatened by AI.

AI tools aren't designed to replace any particular group, but their impact reflects existing workforce gender disparities.

Women are underrepresented in tech roles and overrepresented in supportive careers like admin assistants, where AI capabilities tend to overlap more.

As AI’s impact on the job market unfolds in the coming months and years, there may be a need to assess and address the uneven impact of the technology across different genders and demographics.
