1. ChatGPT can now remember all your past chats: Over time, the chatbot will start to pick up on your preferences and biographical details, making interactions feel more natural and relevant. CEO Sam Altman said it’s the start of a new era where you’ll build a unique relationship with models throughout your life. As Wharton professor Ethan Mollick pointed out, not everyone wants ChatGPT knowing everything about them, but you can easily opt-out if you want to set some boundaries.

2. Design platform Canva gets an AI overhaul: The Adobe competitor, which gets 230M monthly users, showed off a new AI-powered “creative partner” that lets you tweak your docs with just a few text or voice prompts. You can now use AI to generate custom animations, charts, and infographics — or ask Canva to analyze your company’s data and spot major takeaways. 3. Ex-OpenAI CTO’s startup could soon land one of the biggest seed rounds in history: We still have no idea what Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines Lab is cooking up. But that hasn’t stopped investors from going all-in on the startup, which is bringing together some of the world’s top AI researchers. Murati reportedly wants to raise $2B, double the goal from only two months ago. That would send Thinking Labs’ valuation soaring past $10B — a figure that’s unheard of for early startups.

Indian startup unveils new system that can run AI without breaking the bank

The reality of today's AI landscape is stark: You either have access to specialized GPUs costing tens of thousands of dollars, or you're effectively locked out of developing cutting-edge AI. China managed to push past this bottleneck with DeepSeek, but specialized AI hardware is still a gatekeeper to progress, forcing much of the world to watch from the sidelines.

India-based Ziroh Labs set out to shatter AI’s hardware ceiling. The startup has developed 'Kompact AI' — a framework designed to run LLMs on ordinary CPUs found in off-the-shelf desktops, bypassing the need for high-end GPUs. Instead of focusing on the costly training phase, Kompact zeroes in on the “inference stage” — operating AI systems after they've been trained.

The results speak for themselves. The system allows leading models like Meta’s Llama 2 and Alibaba’s Qwen 2.5 to run on a standard laptop with an ordinary Intel Xeon processor — delivering performance on par with specialized hardware. It’s already grabbed the attention of American chipmaking giants Intel and AMD, who’ve tested the system — a testament to the breakthrough's commercial potential.

This could have far-reaching implications. Kompact could potentially be a watershed moment for AI accessibility, opening the door for developers, startups, and researchers in countries without advanced GPU infrastructure. It's also a big leap for India, proving it’s just as capable of pushing past some of the industry’s biggest challenges as the US and China.

• Go to Google Sheets and open a new or existing spreadsheet.

• Click on the ‘Gemini button’ available in the toolbar.

• Scroll down and enter your prompt in the prompt box.

Sample prompt: “Create a content calendar for 2 weeks.”

• Click on ‘Generate’.

• Gemini will suggest a table layout. You can choose to insert it directly into your sheet.

• To use it for a formula, enter a prompt like “Give me a formula to extract [X] from [column name].”

• Gemini will return the formula and an explanation. Click ‘Insert Formula’ to add it to a cell.

• You can ask Gemini follow-up questions in the same side panel to refine tables or fix formulas.
