If you’re looking for something to buy, a group of ex-Apple employees just dropped a new AI-powered gadget that sticks to your shirt and projects images onto your hands.

Ex-Apple employees launch the Humane Ai Pin, a wearable AI device that projects onto your hand

If iOS and Android were the operating system for mobile phones, AI models like OpenAI’s GPT-4 could be the OS for the next generation of hardware devices.

Designed by ex-Apple employees, the Humane Ai Pin is a screenless wearable powered by OpenAI that attaches to your clothing and projects text and buttons onto your hands.

Key features of the device:

• Projects visuals onto your hands instead of a screen.

• Hand gestures like pinching can be used to control the device.

• The device can also be controlled by talking to it directly.

• While details are not completely clear yet, the device runs on some combination of Humane’s Cosmos OS and OpenAI’s models.

• Some features include real-time voice translation, playing music, responding to calls and texts, and answering questions.

• Functions independently without a phone, potentially signalling its intent to replace smartphones completely.

The Ai Pin will cost $699 and comes with 2 battery boosters, a charge pad, a charge case, a cable and an adapter. You can also get cellular coverage for an extra $24 a month.

The GPT feature is now available to all: How to build your own GPT apps — without writing any code

After much hype — and some confusion around the launch date — ChatGPT’s new custom GPT feature is finally here. You can now build your own versions of ChatGPT for specific tasks like learning a new language or turning your spreadsheets into charts.

How to get started

Log into ChatGPT and click on Explore in the top left of your screen. You will then be taken to a screen that shows you all your current GPT apps.

Test one of the GPTs made by OpenAI

In order to get an understanding of how GPTs work, pick an app from the list on the Explore screen and test it out. I picked the Negotiator GPT, gave it some information, and prompted it to give me negotiation advice tailored to my situation.

Build your own GPT

You’re now ready to build your own GPT:

• Go back to the Explore screen and click on Create a GPT at the top of the screen.

• Once you’re in, enter a prompt in the screen on the left and tell ChatGPT what kind of GPT you would like to build and what you would like it to do.

• ChatGPT will then ask you some follow up questions to help you refine your GPT.

• Once the GPT is built, you’ll be able to access it on the screen on the right.

In the image above, I asked ChatGPT to build a GPT called Product Design Expert, where users can upload screenshots of their apps or websites, and get recommendations on how to improve the design. I focused on keeping it non-technical so anyone can use it.

You can also save and share your GPTs with friends and colleagues.

If you don’t know where to start, here are some ideas you can build in a few minutes today:

• Legal Advisor GPT: A GPT that simplifies complex legal documents (not to be substituted for a professional lawyer).

• Repair GPT: Upload pictures of a broken item in your household and get instructions on how to fix it.

• Intern GPT: An assistant that helps you research facts, trends and data for any report you’re writing.

• Pet Care GPT: A GPT for new pet owners that teaches them how to take care of their new pet.

• Coach GPT: A coach that teaches you any new skill you want to learn.
