TODAY IN AI
1. AI takes center stage at the annual 'Made by Google' 2025 showcase: The headliner at the event was Google’s Pixel 10 lineup, which includes four new phones (starting at $800), a revamped Pixel Watch 4, budget-friendly earbuds, and other major announcements. While the phones themselves look identical to last year's models, Google's betting that smarter AI-powered software will be enough to convince users. Read on for a detailed overview of the major announcements from the night.
2. Anthropic bundles Claude Code into enterprise plans: After months of complaints about usage limits, the company’s command-line coding assistant can now be seamlessly integrated with regular Claude chatbots, helping businesses automatically turn customer feedback into actionable product changes. It's Anthropic's most requested enterprise feature, and places them in direct competition with Google and GitHub's business coding tools.
3. US official’s statement may cost Nvidia billions in Chinese chip sales: Chinese regulators are now pushing companies like Alibaba and ByteDance to ditch Nvidia's H20 processors, which were specifically designed for the Chinese market. The regulatory pushback comes after US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's comments, where he appeared to celebrate selling watered-down semiconductors as a strategy to maintain technological dependence, prompting Beijing officials to call his remarks "insulting."

FROM THE FRONTIER
Everything you need to know about Google’s star-studded 'Made by Google 2025' showcase
Google swapped out the typical keynote format for something completely different at this year's 'Made by Google' showcase in New York City — a late-night talk show format with Jimmy Fallon hosting executives and celebrities. The real star of the night, however, were the company’s Gemini AI integrations, which threaded across every major release.
Here’s what you need to know:
Gemini is interspersed across all four Pixel 10 phones with features like a 'Visual Overlays' for the camera, a proactive “Magic Cue” , Camera Coach, Voice Translate for calls, an assistant-like “Take a Message” feature, Pixel Journal, and more.
Tensor G5 is the company’s new custom chip built by TSMC (switching from Samsung). It offers 60% more powerful AI processing compared to its predecessor, enabling on-device AI features, and potentially reducing overheating issues from previous generations.
‘Gemini for Home’ is possibly the company’s biggest smart home upgrade in years. It’s a new AI assistant that can handle complex requests around the home, create cooking suggestions based on what's in your fridge, and is packed with Gemini Live for conversations.
FitBit got a built-in AI health coach, which provides personalized guidance based on 24/7 health data, workout recommendations, sleep insights, and conversational health coaching.
Google’s wearables also got the AI treatment. The Pixel Watch 4 comes with an AI health coach that personalizes workouts based on sleep data, and the Pixel Buds include AI-powered gesture controls that let you accept or decline calls simply by nodding your head.
