1. Amazon unveils model family, AI supercluster, and more: AWS showed off not one, not two, but six new “Nova” models at its Reinvent conference Tuesday. They include a text-based LLM, a pair of multimodal models, a video generator (check out some examples here), an image generator, and a soon-to-be-released reasoning model similar to OpenAI’s o1.

Here’s everything else we learned:

• The e-commerce giant is teaming up with Anthropic to build an “ultracluster” that’s projected to be one of the world’s largest supercomputers when it goes online in the US next year

• In a surprise appearance, Apple revealed it’s using AWS’s proprietary Trainium chips to fuel its AI ambitions

• The coding assistant Q can now take the lead across your full software development cycle, while a new fact-checking tool can protect against AI hallucinations

• A collaboration with Nvidia will see new water cooling technologies coming to AWS data centers, plus new robot simulations and quantum computing integrations

2. There’s a new AI video generator in town: Chinese giant Tencent is closing the gap with American rivals with the release of a new video model, HunyuanVideo. What sets the 13B-parameter model apart is its ability to nail entire action sequences in one dynamic shot. It can also generate hyper-realistic expressions and seamlessly integrate surreal scenes into real-life settings.

3. ElevenLabs leans into custom agents: The platform’s new conversational AI tool lets you choose your own vocal style and base LLM, then craft a custom voicebot catered to your company’s needs. You can create anything from a digital trainer to a video game character to a support agent, and each can converse across more than 30 languages.

• Select tone and voice for your audio discussion and enter a prompt to explain it in detail.

Sample prompt: Create a conversation tailored for a general audience with a medium duration. The tone should be semi-professional.

Spotify’s personalized yearly recaps get an AI boost

NotebookLM’s now-famous AI hosts are launching a new podcast — and it’s all about your personal music taste. Spotify teamed up with Google Labs NotebookLM* to bring the fan-favorite Audio Overviews feature to its streaming service just in time for Wrapped — the roundup that offers users a look back at their listening habits over the past year.

Alphabet built a custom version of Gemini Flash that uses users’ listening histories as source material to create a custom three to six-minute podcast episode about their favorite artists and genres. The collab went so well that DeepMind said it expects to integrate Audio Overviews into more third-party apps soon. It also teased more voices coming to NotebookLM in 2025.

Spotify’s other AI features are getting the Wrapped treatment, too: Its AI DJ, X, will be able to give you commentary on your year, even analyzing how your listening habits changed across each season. You can also build custom AI playlists based on your Wrapped history by typing in a custom prompt like “artists similar to my top five.” Users can try out the new AI tools starting this morning.
