TODAY IN AI
Liquid AI is designing a new type of LLM. Source: Liquid AI
1. A new way to organize projects in ChatGPT: Chatbots once included little more than a simple text box. But over the past few months, they’ve started taking cues from other popular apps, like Notion and Docs. The latest iteration — OpenAI’s new “Projects” tool — lets you build out large, multi-step projects by organizing different chats and GPTs into folders — whether you’re organizing a Secret Santa or prepping a home renovation.
2. Liquid AI’s ‘worm-inspired’ model: Tiny nematodes could inspire the latest state-of-the-art AI design. Since the 1-mm-long creatures function with far fewer neurons than we do, Liquid AI thinks their brains serve as ideal candidates for a new type of AI architecture. The Cambridge-based startup just raised $250M to bring its vision to life. If successful, the $2.3B-valued company’s training methods would likely use far less data than traditional transformers.
3. Alphabet launches platform for custom agents: Alphabet’s Cloud division just unveiled Agentspace, a tool that lets businesses create their own agents. You can choose from several pre-designed agents or design one from scratch. The platform also acts as a hub for all of your data, even info that comes from third-party sources like Jira or ServiceNow. Plus, it’ll be integrated with Alphabet’s research tool NotebookLM (more on that below).
4. Nostalgia’s a big hit at Apple: Reports from The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg suggest the company is working on two foldable devices: a massive iPad that could double as a desktop monitor and a foldable iPhone. One big thing on their to-do list: avoiding the annoying crease. Apple’s aiming to launch these around 2026, though timelines aren’t set in stone.

FROM THE FRONTIER
NotebookLM now lets you talk to its AI hosts
NotebookLM’s new Plus features. Source: Alphabet
Alphabet knows how to keep a good thing going. After finding surprise success with its AI-powered education tool NotebookLM, the search giant is adding several game-changing features — including for Audio Overviews, the tool that lets you turn documents into minutes-long podcasts featuring two AI hosts.
Those hosts are about to get more interactive: You can now interject to ask them a specific question about the text. They’ll answer it before continuing on with their usual banter.
New redesign: A sources panel lets you keep all of your sources organized. A chat panel lets you “talk” to your research and ask for more details. And a studio panel lets you build new things, like study guides and briefing docs.
Enterprise features: Businesses and power users can now access a new “Plus” tier that offers things like shared notebooks and collaborative analytics, plus more privacy features.
