🤖 3 must-know things that happened in AI this week
1. Artifact is now available to everyone: Instagram's co-founders are back with a new app, and this time it's a newsfeed that helps you find more of the news that you're looking for. After an initial waiting list, the app is now available to everyone. You can get access to the app here.
2. Meta enters the AI language models race: Meta (aka Facebook) released its own AI language model this week that is said to outperform GPT-3. However, some commented that the model is considerably more expensive than GPT-3, making it unlikely that it will compete directly with GPT. It will be available for academics, government, civil society and academic organizations, and industry research laboratories. (source)
3. No way, JosAi: Amazon, JP Morgan, and several other organization have reportedly restricted employee access to ChatGPT and other AI tools, citing security concerns around sensitive data. Some commented that organizations that restrict access to AI will get left behind, while others said that this is a prudent move to protect sensitive customer and company data (source)
🧠 Big Insight: AI jobs on Upwork are up 1,400%
AI is coming to the gig economy big time.
AI observer Pete Huang (great follow btw) reported that searches related to generative AI were up an incredible 3,900% on Upwork, while job posts have gone up a whopping 1,400%.
If you're looking to start a new side hustle and create an extra revenue stream on the side, learning a generative AI tool and offering your services on Upwork might be a good place to start.
