A new way for companies to make their own AI apps

Nvidia is set to reveal its second-quarter earnings tomorrow — an announcement that, no matter the outcome, is likely to send shockwaves through the economy. In the meantime though, the Jensen Huang-led firm has already announced a powerful new tool called NIM Agent Blueprints that’s about to make it much easier for companies to build their own AI products.

What is it exactly?

• As the name suggests, it’s a set of blueprints that companies can use to get a head-start on development, like a starter pack for AI projects

• Clients will get access to a set of pre-trained templates catered to different tasks, like customer service, drug discovery, or data extraction

• Firms are free to tweak and customize these templates to match their needs

Why it’s important: In the past, companies needed to work out the technical details of new AI products themselves. Nvidia’s blueprints give them a better starting position, so they no longer have to code everything from scratch. Plus, with partners like Dell, Deloitte, and HP joining in to add more templates, the options are only going to grow.

What else can we expect this week? As for the earnings report, analysts are predicting Nvidia’s revenue to more than double in Q2. Its stock has soared 3,776% since the start of 2019, benefiting many of its employees. But don’t expect to see them popping champagne just yet. Reports suggest that some programmers are hunkering down, trying to ride this wave while it lasts — even as their new sports cars sit idle in the parking lot, a telling sign of their commitment to the company.

The latest Apple rumor: A new personality-driven Siri

Most chatbots are designed to give you the information you need as quickly as possible. But sources tell Bloomberg that Apple could be developing a generative AI-powered Siri successor that has a bit of a “personality” as well. The details are fuzzy, but the chatbot would likely be native to Apple’s planned tabletop robot, which could come out as soon as 2026. 

If you’re looking for a shorter-term fix: Apple’s next major event is reportedly set for September 9. It’ll include a full iPhone 16 lineup reveal and more details about Apple Intelligence. Its next-generation phones are expected to hit shelves on September 20.

😄 One Fun Thing: Building your own AI app might be easier than you think. An executive at Cloudflare shared a video of his 8-year-old daughter creating a Harry Potter chatbot from scratch with the help of Cursor’s AI-powered code editor — in just 10 minutes. “And you don’t have to pay her beyond room and board?” one user joked.

🛟 AI For Good: AI-powered drones might be best known for their destructive capabilities, but a UK-based startup called Fenix Insight wants to reverse that trend. It’s developing AI software that can detect mines from above and predict where they might be hidden in the dirt or grass. The model is being piloted in Ukraine, which now has one of the highest concentrations of mines in the world.
