But it thinks it has more to offer than meets the eye. In a new video, Humane showed how its CosmOS operating system works with cars, phones, smart speakers, and more. It’ll supposedly let you do things like adjust your home’s temperature from your vehicle’s dashboard — or ask your TV how many goals your favorite soccer player has scored this season.

3. Clone Robotics reveals humanoid with ‘synthetic organs’: Polish startup Clone Robotics is going all-in on realism. Its Clone Alpha robot features life-like skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems, a human-like gait, and “the most biometric hands ever created.” It supposedly knows how to do things like folding laundry and setting the table right out of the box, but you’ll be able to teach it new skills, too. The first 279 units will be available for pre-order next year.

OpenAI was feeling generous Thursday, giving us not one major gift but two. On the first day of “shipmas,” the startup came out swinging with the full release of o1, plus a beefed-up version available for a premium.

Here are all the details from the Sam Altman-hosted demo:

• o1 is now fully multimodal, meaning it can interpret images and audio alongside text; that lets it do things like perform advanced calculations based on hand-written diagrams

• As expected, it performs much better than GPT-4o and o1-preview on challenging, multi-step prompts, with roughly a 34% drop in major errors

• The base version of o1 is much speedier than o1-preview; that’s because it’s better at differentiating between prompts that require a lot of thought and those that only need a quick reply

• For $200 a month, you can get access to a new subscription tier called ChatGPT Pro with unlimited usage, plus a special version of o1 with even more compute behind it; OpenAI says it’s the best model available today for solving hard math, science, and logic problems
