🤖 Insight: How people feel about AI in the workplace

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) surveyed nearly 13,000 individuals across 18 countries revealing an optimistic yet mixed perception of AI in the workplace.

Overall, respondents were more optimistic about AI compared to five years ago, but there were notable differences in perceptions between executive leaders and frontline employees.

Key insights from the survey include:

Respondents' optimism: "Leaders are much more optimistic than frontline employees about AI (62% vs. 42%)." Similarly, regular users of generative AI were more optimistic than non-users (62% vs. 36%).

Need for training: While there is a recognized need for training, only a fraction of employees have received it - 44% of leaders versus just 14% of frontline staff.

Increase in AI usage: The usage of AI in companies has risen from 22% in 2018 to 50% in 2023. Of these, 80% of leaders and 20% of frontline employees regularly use generative AI.

Call for regulation: 79% of respondents support AI regulation.

Responsible AI: 68% of leaders believe their organization has an adequate responsible AI program, compared to only 29% of frontline employees.
