From the iPhone to the aiPhone? Legendary Apple designer Jony Ive and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have been discussing a new AI hardware project, according to a report in The Information.

The report cited 2 people familiar with the matter and said that the type of device or whether it will be released is not yet known but both parties have been discussing what the device could look like.

Softbank’s Mayoshi Son has also reportedly been part of the conversation, but it is not known if he will continue his involvement.

Jony Ive is best-known for his time at Apple, and leading the design of the iPhone and other popular devices. Ive left Apple in 2019 to start his own design firm that counts Ferrari and Airbnb among its clients.
