📰 News: Russia and UK enter the AI wars

While companies are busy launching their competitors to prominent products like ChatGPT, it looks like governments are also looking to get in on the action.

State-owned Russian lender Sberbank has launched GigaChat, an AI chatbot to compete with ChatGPT. GigaChat is currently in invite-only testing mode. (source)

The UK also recently announced plans to spend £100 million on homegrown AI models that can compete globally. (source)

While many countries are looking to establish a presence in the space, it remains to be seen if a government-led approach is the right strategy to win in this market.
