Samsung joins the AI party and launches its ChatGPT rival
Samsung
Seems like everyone and their grandma has a new AI model these days. After Elon Musk’s Grok was announced last week, Samsung has joined the long list of OpenAI competitors with their own model called Gauss.
Named after the famous mathematician, Samsung said its model consists of language, code, and image capabilities.
Language sounds very similar to what ChatGPT does in default text mode but Samsung claims that it can also be applied to products for smarter device control. Image will generate, well, images and code will generate - you guessed it - code.
But unlike many other AI models, what sets Gauss apart is that it can be applied on-device to protect the private information of users.
Samsung said the model is currently being tested internally to increase employee productivity and will be expanded to product applications in the future.

5 ways to use new ChatGPT and GPT-4 features
OpenAI
While some of us are still processing the absolute flood of announcements from OpenAI earlier this week, the hackers and hobbyists have been chipping away at the new GPT-4 and ChatGPT features.
Here are 5 of the most interesting new use cases we’ve found:
Create audio commentary for videos
X user Gonzalo Espinoza Graham Combined GPT-4 vision with text-to-speech to generate commentary for a football game. While it’s not quite at the level of a professional commentator, the quality is still very impressive for a first try.
GPT-4V + TTS = AI Sports narrator 🪄⚽️
Passed every frame of a football video to gpt-4-vision-preview, and with some simple prompting asked to generate a narration
No edits, this is as it came out from the model (aka can be SO MUCH BETTER)

Build your own data dashboards without writing code
If you’ve ever tried to create a data dashboard, you know how much time it can take. With GPT-4, you can now upload a spreadsheet with data and it will create dashboards for you.
Why build a dashboard when you can just have your app save a csv file for everything that happens throughout the day and then have GPT-4 build a custom dashboard for you based on what you're curious about every night.
