With $40M in funding from a16z, the five-employee company is already valued at $200M.

2. Reddit takes on the search giants: The days of tacking “Reddit” onto each of your online searches could soon be over. The social forum is allegedly building out its own AI-powered search platform called Reddit Answers. It’ll draw directly from users’ posts to give you curated summaries, recommendations, and advice relevant to your search. It’s only available to a small group of US users for now with plans to go global soon.

3. AI flips the script on early cancer detection: A new study from AI firm DeepHealth shows that women who use AI-enhanced mammograms are 21% more likely to detect cancer early compared to those sticking with traditional methods. This may be because AI acts as a “second set of eyes,” helping radiologists spot red flags that may otherwise slip through the cracks. The company is now diving into randomized trials to get a clearer picture of the results.

After nearly 10 months of anticipation, OpenAI’s video model is finally here. While startups like Runway and Pika have been making waves with their own VLMs this year, everyone had been left wondering: “Where’s Sora?” On the third day of “shipmas,” OpenAI finally silenced the critics.
