While most companies are still stuck figuring out their hybrid work policies, one tech giant is living in 2050 with autonomous robots that deliver everything from important documents to your afternoon coffee. And: Find out why Nvidia thinks it’s cracked a 60-year-old scaling rule.

5 new AI tools to boost your productivity
P.S. I'm taking part in The CEO Accelerator later this month to level up my company-building and management skills. It's taught by my good friend Eric Partaker who advises Fortune 50 companies and was recognized as the CEO of the Year. You can check it out here if you'd like to join me in the next cohort.
TODAY IN AI

1. Anthropic closes in on $2B funding round: If the deal goes through, it will value the Claude-maker at $60B, making it the world’s seventh most valuable startup. What will it spend the money on? In the near term, fans are hoping for Claude 3.5 Opus or Claude 4 — in other words, a model that can close the distance with OpenAI’s o3. We haven’t gotten a major upgrade from Anthropic since the efficiency-focused 3.5 Haiku was released back in October.
2. Inside the first ‘robot-friendly’ office: “Watch for robots,” a sign reads inside a 36-story office tower owned by the South Korean tech giant Naver Corp, where about 120 AI-powered robots deliver drinks, food, and mail to their human colleagues. The 3-foot-tall robots even have their own elevators and walkways, with navigation controlled through the cloud. It could be our first glimpse at a future where robots and humans “work in harmony” to boost productivity.
3. Nvidia shatters decades-old scaling law: According to Moore’s Law, it takes humans about two years to double chip performance. But Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang told TechCrunch his company is throwing a wrench in that six-decade-old theory. Nvidia’s latest AI chip is about 30 times faster than its predecessor, while today’s processors are roughly 1,000 times better than they were 10 years ago. Huang’s hypothesis has even spawned its own Wikipedia page.

AI innovations we’re keeping our eyes on this year

CES can be more than a little overwhelming, with hundreds of new products vying for our attention and our wallets. Here’s a roundup of some of the AI-powered gadgets and updates we think are worth keeping on your radar this year.
A doctor at your fingertips, literally: Since typical chatbots are trained on anything and everything, they’re not the most reliable sources for health advice. That’s why a startup called Movano is using only peer-reviewed medical journals to train its new LLM. It supposedly delivers 99% accuracy while being fully compatible with the startup’s new Evie smart ring.
A wearable that reads your mind: A new device called Omi will soon use an electrode to detect when you’re speaking to it, so you don’t have to verbally call on it to do things. One day, the device will be able to keep track of your thoughts and recall them at will, according to its creators.
Parenting and pets: How do you take care of your child, get enough sleep, and eat a balanced diet all at the same time? Panasonic is launching an AI coach this year that can help parents plan out their days and create healthy goals and habits. Meanwhile, if you’re tearing your hair out training your new puppy, the SATELLAI smart collar can give you AI-powered tips while monitoring health signals like breath and heart rate.
Hassle-free air travel: Delta unveiled a new AI concierge that can handle customer service issues, like rebooking a flight for you. There’s a lot changing behind the scenes too, with AI optimizing things like connecting flights and gate assignments to ease your anxieties at the airport.

💰 Funding: A new Crunchbase analysis finds that Silicon Valley dominated the AI space last year, single-handedly bringing in more than half of all funding for AI startups. But companies are expanding beyond California to build new data centers, with Amazon announcing an $11B infrastructure project that will bring 550 jobs to Georgia. Finally, AR startup Infinite Reality raised $3B in a new funding round, bringing its valuation to $12.25B as esports and gaming drive interest in immersive media.
